Installation of Master Cutler 2023/2024

Tuesday 3rd October 2023 marked the installation of our new Master Cutler, Mr Charles Turner DL, with the ceremony held at Cutlers’ Hall, followed by a service in Sheffield Cathedral and a luncheon in the Hall afterwards.
Dame Julie Kenny DBE DL, our outgoing Master Cutler, has had a remarkably successful year. She and the Hallamshire Mistress, Mrs Rachel Abbott have relentlessly worked to promote manufacturing and engineering throughout the South Yorkshire Region. One of Dame Julie Kennys’s aims was to become a more inclusive and diverse company to recognise the different companies and people The Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire represents. An aim which the new Master Cutler and Wardens will also carry on into their year.
The Master Cutler highlighted the Company’s mission to promote charity, education, and skills as they have been part of the Company’s mandate since 1624 and are still relevant today. During the Master Cutlers year, The Company of Cutlers will celebrate their 400th anniversary on St George’s Day, 23rd April 2024. Such celebrations will include various events throughout 2024 to commemorate this historic milestone.
